I recently had the honor of photographing a charming little West Coast wedding. We did some formals down at the Songhees before the ceremony and then went and took some fun shots at the historic Esquimalt Railyard. Here’s a sneak peak of some of my favorite shots. Victoria Portrait Photographer - {Maternity}
I have indeed been working, but I’ve become a little behind in posting as I”ve had some maintenance issues with my site and (not to mention)sometimes life just gets in the way!! So for your viewing pleasure I’ll be taking some time here & there to update you on a few of my recent shoots. 
Below are some highlights of a sweet maternity shoot I had the pleasure of orchestrating back in late February with a wonderful young couple expecting their first child. Sometimes the weather can be somewhat unpredictable here is Victoria, and shooting primarily outdoors can make for some quick thinking on my feet. This couple had driven from out of town, and naturally, our BC weather had recently left us with some snow, and the morning of the shoot… it rained! A little improvising and the use of a darling umbrella made for some great photos. Enjoy!

Victoria Portrait Photographer - {Newborn}
Well, now that the business of the holiday season is finally over, I’m once again able to dedicate some time to my developing website and sharing images you all. Below are just a few samples of a newborn shoot I shot a little over a month ago. A full tummy always makes it easier to shoot newborn babes, and this little man (a mere seven days old) had the patience of a saint, while he endured a few outfit & background changes. And of course, being so close to Christmas, we just had to put him in the little elf inspired outfit. Cutest. Elf. Ever.
These last two sets were done up as Christmas cards, which can be added to any portrait package. Birth Announcements, Engagement Announcements, Christmas & Holiday themes, or any occasion that is meaningful to you!

Victoria Portrait Photographer – {Children}
This little boy had me so enamored. Beautiful blonde curly hair, and big baby blues. The little man was constantly on the move and kept me on my toes, but it was worth it! We even managed to sneak in a few shots with Mom! Here’s a few of my favs – I had a hard time choosing which ones too share. Enjoy!

All Things Nesting

Victoria Portrait Photographer - {Maternity}
I remember being pregnant; and was reminded, on a recent photoshoot, about the very overpowering urge I had to “nest”. An urge to make my home a home, & to have everything ready for our new arrival. If you have ever done any bird watching, you will observe how carefully our feathered friends prepare their nest. They know instinctively how to build it – even down to its size and shape, and precisely what materials to provide for the comfort and safety of their young. I recently photographed an expectant young mother, and even though these shots are varied and fun, I believe this natural instinct lends a sense of ease and softness to the images. Funny enough, we were even joined by a peacock! Here are a few of my favorite shots from that sunny autumn afternoon, featuring a very beautiful young lady who is going to make a very wonderful mother!

As summer comes to a close and Autumn makes it’s entrance, we have the privilege of observing the change in seasons. Evenings come a little sooner, and the warm days finish with a new chill in the air. This shoot had me chasing the last of the evening sunlight, and I had the sweetest family to photograph. These two were relaxed, and interacted so naturally with one another – allowing me to capture the charm that belonged to them and them alone – and the baby in the box? Priceless….

Back to School {Cool}

Victoria Portrait Photographer - {Teens}
I’ve been busy busy working behind the scenes, but I don’t want to miss opportunities to share what I’ve been up to! My kiddos recently brought home the “school photo” order form, and I tell ya – I just couldn’t do it! However, my oldest wanted a few photos, so I reluctantly complied ((‘cuz that’s the kinda mom I am, lol!). But, that didn’t stop me from sneaking in a little “Back to School” shoot of my own – unplanned, and rather impromptu of course. We were on a family outing together, and I couldn’t help but find these little photo opps to shoot the teenager – I realize that sounds rather funny!
If you or your kiddos are looking for something different other than the standard school photos, why not consider an outdoor personalized shoot that captures your chidlren’s individual personality? – and it looks way cooler in their locker too!

A Mother’s Love

Victoria Portrait Photographer {Babies}
I recently had the privilege of photographing a stunningly beautiful young mother, and her sweetest little newborn babe. We chose a location that was particularly meaningful to her, and were able to take advantage of early evening’s natural golden light. There’s something uniquely intimate about the instant bond between a mother and her babe, and I felt honored to photograph it. This young mother was at ease with herself, and visibly relaxed with her baby, and they just did what they do best – interact with one another. To the camera….it was magic.

Renewal of Wedding Vows

Victoria Portrait Photographer {Wedding}
I recently had privy of photographing a wonderfully intimate ceremony between two lovely people who chose to renew their wedding vows in honor of their 15th wedding anniversary. It was a small ceremony in a local park, surrounded by roses and wrapped in glowing sunshine. It was touching to witness transparent feelings and an air of “‘realness ” that became present as they renewed vows with each other amongst their children and close friends. So “A & C”, here’s wishing you many more years together, and here’s a little sneak peak of a just a few images from your ceremony.
